WATER DISINFECTION AND TREATMENT - WITH UVC SYSTEMS FROM UST.

Although invisible to the human eye, UV radiation performs vital tasks.

With the aid of UVC lamps it is possible to kill pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, fungi and germs in the water. UST has been manufacturing its own water disinfection systems at its Gera site for 15 years now. Our UVC systems have established themselves over time under the names PURE and ULTRA V as high-quality and lasting solutions. UVC systems are used in particular for the disinfection of water from drinking water wells, water in swimming pools, waste water from sewage treatment plants and industrial cooling circuits. Depending on the irradiance, the flow velocity and the turbidity of the water, germs are reduced by up to 99.99 %. The high performance of our UVC systems guarantees almost perfect water disinfection. In addition, our UVC systems are very robust, environmentally friendly, economical, fast-acting and safe.

UVC systems in detail

The UVC systems are manufactured at an extremely high standard at the UST GmbH site in Gera. Depending on the quantity and quality of the water, we produce different systems in-house. The reactor is completely made of polished stainless steel (V4A). The water inlets and outlets, as well as the cylinder for fixing the UVC lamp, are also elaborately welded stainless steel components. This design avoids using PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which becomes brittle due to UVC radiation and water pressure. The systems are controlled by means of tried and tested electronics that are specially adjusted to the UVC lamp used.

Performance of the UVC systems

UVC systems are available in a wide range of power ratings from 16 to 240 watts. This allows between 330 and 20,000 litres of water to be sterilised per hour. All UVC systems can be operated at pressures of at least 6 bar. The PURE 1.0 UVC system even has a maximum pressure of up to 10 bar. To keep the water disinfection performance at a continuous level, we recommend changing the UVC lamp once a year. With regard to installation, the ballast unit (with PURE 1.0 also possible as a plug-in power supply unit) must be mounted on a wall so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight. To prevent possible breakage of the UVC lamp and the surrounding immersion pipe, both items are supplied separately packaged and must be inserted in accordance with the operating instructions before commissioning.
